The truth is that many people probably don’t need what you have to offer. So it is important for you to find the right people now. You need to have organization to get productivity and lead generation. In order to find people now then you are going to need to often ask “now” questions to find success. It is really better if you assume that they do need it now, unless that they say otherwise. In fact assume that everyone wants your products now until they show you the signs otherwise. You need to ask them questions according to their situation. You need to ask them why they need to make these changes now.
In essence you really need to find desperate people or people that are desperate, but they don’t fully know it yet. Many times taking the moment to help them evaluate where they are at can be huge for the understanding of why they need what you have to offer. Many reason why people don’t buy is because they get used to their routine of mediocrity. They know they need more, but often they just don’t know where. If they did then they would have already come to you or one of your competitors. Feel free to be blunt and honest with their situation. Don’t sugar coat it or else they will feel validated for their lack of improvement. Many people want that in the world to feel that their mediocrity is acceptable, but in all honesty it shouldn’t be.
You need to evaluate their situation and help them see that if they don’t make those changes now then they will possibly never achieve their goals. They will probably live in their monotonous life never realizing their dreams. Just as many salesman do out there. The funny thing is that you are not that far away from the mindsets of your prospects. You have to think how they would think and what would influence them so much that you don’t even need to ask them to make a change by buying your product. If you can spread that gap between their dreams and their reality then you will find a humble and appreciative human being. Take the time now to first do it in your life.
Look at where you are as a salesman and if that is acceptable. It shouldn’t be that acceptable and you should be looking for more ways to improve. If that means attitude, improving your time prospecting and contacting, or simply working on your skill set it will help improve your ability to help yourself and others.
