Law Of Attr(action)
The law of attraction has become such a source of truth for many entrepreneurs. They go to it like the fountain of youth. The Secret is the culprit of this addiction for positive mental thoughts and hopefully great achievements. For those that haven’t heard yet, the law of attraction states simply that whatever you think about the most will manifest in your life. So if you think of positive thoughts then you will attract those situations such as a nice car, good health, or a wonderful relationship. If you focus on negativity such as sickness, then you will find yourself sick more often. This has grown so quickly that the Internet is flooded with this principle. The funny thing is that it really isn’t that original as The Secret points out. They have simply marketed this “hidden treasure” very well.
Law…shmaw!
You will find many critics out there that consider this idea proposterous. They believe that these are the thoughts of traveling salesmen grabbing a hold of the hopes of wishers looking to buy dreams. People that are predominantly middle class that want to create financial, physical, social, and spiritual wealth. Critics believe that this is a brilliant marketing ploy designed to prey on the hopes of people that won’t achieve these goals. Instead it will only raise their hopes to watch them crash in their face. They believe The Secret creates false hope for these dreamers.
I find these critics very comical. I think the critics are cynical people that probably have little success themselves and are skeptical often about many enlightened ideas. Such as these thoughts are not new, critics have always been around doubt and tearing ideas apart. They are quick to doubt and for that don’t reach the potential they could. Different points of view are important though because they help us to truly evaluate our current truths.
Act now!
The secret of the law of attraction is that if you are always focusing on achieving one thing then you will accomplish it to some extent. It is inevitable. As I said though, we need to evaluate what and why we believe in certain doctrines. There is one area where the critics have a valuable point that is noteworthy and I would like to talk about. If you notice in the title that action is in the word attr(action). I don’t think that it is by coincidence. I believe this law will create opportunities in your life that will allow you to act upon those opportunities. I feel that we in-act the first process of bringing those opportunities into our lives, but we stop short.
Patience and hard work-
The Secret talks of this and the importance of watering the plant until it is in full bloom, even if we aren’t pleased with the results. Patience is key to success in any area. We fall short because we get down on ourselves and allow for the anxiety, pain, and fear to consume us. It prevents us from continuing on with great feats.
Think of all of the times that you have quit something. I am sure that if you would have continued on then you would have eventually found success. As I said…it is inevitable. That is the beauty of the law of attraction. It is the consistency and delicacy towards what you are doing, no matter how long it may take. This is why it is so important to be goal oriented and really know what you want. Otherwise what would you know when and how to act on these opportunities? Write these goals down, don’t just think about them. Speak about them out loud. Discuss them with others that you trust. I believe that all of these actions are necessary to attracting success. Sometimes we will be required to act before and after we attract these tremendous opportunities. So be willing to take action or I believe that not only will you lose out on those chances, but future occasions will be taken away from you.
Remember that when you are introduced to true laws there are always more aspects to them then what initially will meet the eye. Prepare to act and react to these laws and mold to them like clay so you will not only fulfill these laws, but do so sooner with more ease. Your body and mind are tools and gifts like any craft. It takes many years to learn and fully understand. Don’t waste these great tools being idle. Instead act so that you may attract.

I agree with you 100%. What I find disgusting about The Secret is that it not only claims we attract everything good in our life, we also attract the bad. Thus, Holocaust victims, the Asian Tsunami victims, and the genocide victims in Darfur all willed their deaths. What a bunch of crap!
Brett I think this principle can be very similar to faith. If we act on our beliefs then our faith will increase and our results will improve. Obviously there are always going to be events in our lives that are negative and if we place ourselves mentally, phsyically and spiritually in that type of environment then are chances to face trials will increase. I think so much of this law is not black and white, but created in percentages. Thanks for your true comments.

I haven’t seen the movie, but I have seen in my own life the Law of Attraction working in both directions. And now that I am more aware of the LOA and how it works, it’s easier to attract what I want rather than what don’t want. It doesn’t always happen this way because I still get doubts, but being aware that it exists helps. And taking action is essential. If wishful thinking were all we had to do, then I’m sure a lot of people would quit their jobs and start wishing away.
