As Business Continuity says, the 80/20 principle is a great foundation for productivity.

Find the purity in what you are doing. The stuff that works, scale it. Jettison the stuff that doesn't, particularly if you find it taking much of your resources.

If you want to be really ruthless about using this system, try applying it to your personal life, as well.

You don't like shopping? Don't go shopping.

That needy friend who always ends up depressing you? Stop seeing them!

Reducing clutter, noise, unwanted distractions...if you can eliminate these, you are half-way there, already.

The 80/20 rule is totally relevant to my online business and pretty much any business venture I get into with the exception of my real estate rentals.

Regarding distractions, it does take a lot of discipline to try to push through the distractions so you can focus on the important 20%.

Your 80/20 principle is often used in marketing as well. 80% of sales come from 20% of your customers. This really nails home the idea of customization. Find what you are good at and stick to that. Venturing too far outside a core concept can kill your results. Thanks for the great read and interesting post!
