Consistency In A Business Opportunity
“In baseball, my theory is to strive for consistency, not to worry about the numbers. If you dwell on statistics you get shortsighted, if you aim for consistency, the numbers will be there at the end.”
Tom Seaver, Hall of Fame Pitcher
I am sure for many of you out there working on make money business opportunities there are countless nights were you say to yourself, “When am I going to get there?” This is one of the best times in your business. Do you want to know why? It is the time when you finally say I have had enough with mediocrity and I am going to keep pressing through with better ways to achieve my goals.
This quote from Tom Seaver sounds probably very familiar for a lot of you dreamers out there. How many times have you read the numbers in the bank account or the sales results or the visitors to your site and you were…well…not satisfied? I am sure that you have asked yourself “What am I doing wrong?” or “Why can’t I figure this out?” and as I said this self-evaluation is natural.
I think you need to understand that success starts from the beginning even with the failures. As Thomas Edison mentioned that he found 10,000 ways to not invent a light bulb, well you are becoming an expert at business monotony. Success is a long process that is not described by the results, but the whole process. You are learning that beautiful process and how to achieve it. So rest assure you won’t fail, just find some longer paths to your destination. I like to think of it as taking the scenic route.
So stop moaning and take the time to think what you can be more consistent on that is going to get you there. You may very well be on that path, you just need to exhibit a little more patience. Others may just need to get a little more inconsistent with the pointless habits.
Study what makes your business tick. What is the miniature 20% or so portion of your day when you get the most done and maximizing your business to it’s best potential. Remember this might mean you consistently doing nothing other than directing traffic in your business. If you do have to delegate your business, then restrain yourself and stand back. Give your business a shot to live.
It is consistently doing the right thing and if that means giving a customer back his money or going the extra mile to create that trust then that is what consistency means. When it means doing something that is going to stretch you to go beyond natural abilities then that is consistency! So remind yourself often…focus on being the consistently best you and the success will take care of itself.
