How To Improve Your Ebay Sales

EBay is a difficult task to handle for many people and I have seen a lot of people struggle because of a lack of knowledge and eventually a lack of desire because it becomes just too time consuming. This shouldn’t be that hard and there are plenty of ways you can improve your income and get rid of the stress.

1. Take good care of your customers. This is often taken for granted by the Average Joe on eBay. I think this is probably the most important thing in any business. Just because you don’t have a normal store front doesn’t mean you don’t have a responsibility to provide value and be morally and ethically bound to what you sell. Be patient and quick to help with their questions and concerns. It may be the difference between you selling and not selling a product.

I say this one hesitantly because I have talked about the right type of customer before. You could get hosed over on this, but there are strategies in place for eBay to help you out, but it can cause a huge headache. Often higher rates on your products are going to bring in better customers.

3. Relieve their stress and put in guarantees. Every consumer feels more comfortable with some sort of warranty in place. It is common in any business. How many times do you see a offer that is money back guarantee for a life time. I think it is funny because most people will never return it. It is just the level of comfort that they know that they can if they want to.

4. Now is better than later for your buyer. Sellers who meet certain criteria can offer fixed-price “Buy It Now” listings. If you find the right buyer then you don’t need to wait until the end of the auction. Take the time to do it now so they are satisfied and you receive your funds quicker. There is nothing like a speedy customer service.

5. Make your descriptions informative and attention-getting. Put yourself in their shoes and think what a customer would want. Where is it the you are attractive to a buyer and where is it that you are lacking? Be very descriptive with any features, including the item’s current condition and don’t lie or beat around the bush. Also let them know when it was made.

6. Test shorter auction periods. This is a technique that works in a lot of businesses out there. How many times do you hear “Call in the next half hour and…”? This is a common approach to create additional demand and heighten desire to act in a consumer.

This feature will allow for you to add additional searches and connect your auctions together to lead prospective buyers to other options that you have to sell. This may be good if you are offering a lot of what they want. 8. EBay feedback rating is vital to you staying in the game. I like to think of this as being in good standing with the Better Business Bureau or whatever auditing company you find reliable. This allows for you to have “testimonials” of sort about your selling and can create trust and a level of branding, which is necessary for any business.

9. Multiple listing categories and upgraded features can save your business. Listing your items in multiple categories and using feature upgrades like text bolding and highlighting and additional photos will give you a better opportunity to sell these items then what you might have before. Leverage eBay and all that it has to offer to your advantage.

10. Make it picture perfect. Pictures are worth a thousand words and maybe a thousand bucks. Take pictures and include any weaknesses that you know may be an issue because seeing it will allow them to decide before this becomes an issue down the road. Use natural or ambient lighting and a neutral background.
