Taking A Chance
“There are risks and costs to a program of action. But they are far less than the long-range risks and costs of comfortable inaction.
-John F. Kennedy, President of The United States Of America
I talked with an old man today that told me there was a 75% chance he was going to lose his leg after an injury at work. He was terribly injured and won’t be able to go back to work again. He said to me, “I regret certain things now in my life. I don’t regret the injury because it wasn’t my choice. I regret not doing more with my leg when I had the ability to use it, that I didn’t climb mountains, jump out of airplanes, go swimming more, playing more sports, and walking with my wife.”
This was such a difficult thing to hear. I have recently thought that I still have many choices how to act in my life. There are so many things that we fear people will make fun of us about and we will be embarrassed. We don’t want anyone to mess with our self-esteem. It is sad because we go through life doing a lot of nothing and just being jealous of others and what they do. Or we criticize them the same way we feared that others would attack us. Stop worrying about what other people think and do what you feel is right because you want to do it. Create your code of ethics and map out how you want to live your life.

I think the words of this old man can sum up one’s life who is after a happy life.
Thanks for this great inspiration!
This is really inspirational! Thanks for posting this. Most people just take for granted what they have, simply because it has always been there. This just makes me realize (yet again) that I need to appreciate what life has given me.
