Have Business Meetings Only When Necessary

I have come to realize that business meetings can backfire and become silly if not given a purpose. They can be fun at times, but often counterproductive for a business agenda. Many corporate and department meetings can be cut down and simply given tasks and follow-up on previous tasks. Often that follow-up doesn’t need to happen unless the tasks were not handled. Unofficial meetings for a short period of time can be beneficial.

Often a conference call or an e-mail is the best thing because you can get all the parties involved that need to be there and help them realize what each person’s task is in a short period of time. Then you can empower them without much worry about them handling it. Follow up to make sure it is done and then move on.

Praise is important and so is corrective criticism, but don’t focus on the past so much. Get done with what you need to because if you dwell on these past circumstances and then other members and employees will do the same thing and it will only waste more time. Complete tasks and if they are not done then make them a priority.
