Don’t Be Afraid Of A Small Business

I have come to realize that so many business owners out there are really going to struggle because they don’t know how to stop the ideas that keep flowing out. You might be in the situation where you have countless ideas, but at the same time this can be a huge time waster if you don’t know how to market it well and get it into action.

I struggle all of the time with these things and see this in other business relationships where there are so many ideas, but hard to know how to funnel that fully into one source. If you don’t do this then you are always spreading yourself out. You are always best doing one thing and making it great while a lot of other people have a lot of good things in their lives. The people that are great at one thing inspire all those that are good. So make it easy on yourself and keep your business simple by pounding at your strengths.

Great advice! You’re definitely better off writing down your goals, then performing tasks which take you in the directions of your goals. It’s great to have creative ideas flowing, but focusing on what helps you achieve your goals is essential.
Nice blog! Keep up the great work!

Yes, I think to keep focus is very important.

When working on your own business it can be very helpful to break down your business day into sections.
example: Take say,one hour for preparing mail outs,
then one hour for the morning business meeting with staff, then an hour and a half for phone calls, four hours for sales calls, grab lunch, on the way back drop off mail outs and do any other errands on the same trip back,etc.etc.
If you plan your day into organized time (where you do ALL you need to do of each thing)then you can get 10 times the work done per day.

Great advice. We develop and sell software. The biggest temptation is to continue adding features and delay a release. Planning and discipline are a must.

Yes, to keep focus is very important.

In addition, I think business owners have to create their online business systems.

Most of the business owners don’t create their business systems. They are actually creating another job to themselves. They work very long hours. They end up doing more than 60 or even 80 hours per week. The main problem is that everything in the business is done by them.

They don’t figure out how to turn the “new job” they created into an online business. The main difference between a job and a business is that a job requires you to do most of the work while a business means you put systems and procedures in place so that other people can do the work for you. A business generates income whether you are working there or not.

If you’re an “idea guy” with the vision it really helps to have a great “doer”, one who implements all the tactics for you. It’s unusual for one person to be able to do both at the same time effectively it seems.

Some great commments guys. I used to suffer from information overload when conducting my business, trying to incorporate all my ideas at once.

I started to set out my goals in my diary and followed through step by step, ignoring all possible interruptions.

A defined Goal Plan is definatley the way to go.

Good advice. Focusing on too many ideas and trying to incorporate too much at once will be counterproductive. It’s more important to do fewer things well than many things that are just okay.
