What Is The Best Home Based Business Opportunity For Me After Failing At One

Sometimes it seems like everything is crashing down on you.
There is a good chance that most of you have been in this situation where you have gone through months or maybe years working on a business, but it falls flat on its face. “It isn’t me!” you tell yourself.
Well the sad truth is you are probably to blame in some regards, but you can’t put that pressure on yourself. One thing you can do is learn from the experience and use it to start a new business.
I heard probably some made up stat somewhere that crept out of a horrible seminar that it takes something like five or seven failed business opportunities on average before you find the right one. Whether that is true or not, you may have a ways to go.
We all love the Abe Lincoln story of failure that lead him to the White House. We all appreciate Thomas Edison’s statement of “I did not fail. I just found 10,000 ways that didn’t work.” But do we appreciate it enough to follow it?
Business Rehab
There is no FBA: failed business anonymous for us to join. We have a lot of other people we can talk to, self help CDs, webinars, seminars and teleseminars galore, but they don’t put money in our pockets. I can watch The Secret a million times (which I did before going to sleep almost every night for a summer) but the TV won’t put Benjamins under my pillow in the morning (maybe I just went against the law of attraction!)
First you need to evaluate what happened before you moved on. In fact often one of the best things you can do is move forward in a similar industry because of this experience, but before you do here are some questions to ask so that way this time you can find the best home based business opportunity to fit you.
1) What were the steps that led to my demise?
This sounds so epically depressing, but write it down. Be detailed about anything involving any employees, business relationships, products, work environments, work habits, negotiations, financial decisions, and whatever else could possibly be involved. You know why it happened so flesh it out.
There is a principle here that will keep you motivated and build you up again. Even if it was fully your fault this is the chance to redeem yourself and come back with guns blazing. Remember Honest Abe’s wife went crazy, he couldn’t speak well, he struggled with depression and anxiety, but he became one of the greatest figures in this nation! Could it be that this could make you great too?
2) How could you change it?
This is key. Many people know what they did wrong, but don’t understand how to do it differently. I think one of the best things you can do is talk it out with others and discover other pathways.
Discuss your failure with business experts, gurus, mentors, etc. If you can get different view points then you will also potentially see other opportunities. Business partners love to see fighters.
3) Use this to help mold your next business project.
One time I was involved in a business that still exists, but I failed myself out intentionally because of the way it was ran. People were hired on to the company like free guests were pulled off the streets of Los Angeles to the set of The Price Is Right.
Employees became a benchmark of excellence. It was fine when financially things were going well, but when the economy took a hit then mouths were not fed any more. It was like Oliver Twist going up and asking, “Could I have some more sir?” with the response of “SOME MORE!?!?”
There were more liabilities, more evil speaking, more lawsuits, more confusion, and the list goes on and on. To this day I am going to try to avoid employees. That might sound not very American, but I learned that little is better and machines and systems are beautiful. I will have to hire some people, but not half of a city. Contracting will be performed when possible.
I would not have put my business together this way if I didn’t first experience that and I am grateful for it. Learn now from your mistakes because it will be a blessing down the road.
This is as much your blog as it is mine and now the blog is yours.

A Top Advice is…really, don’t take it as a failure. Nothing really is…you simply learn a new “Not-To-Do” skill. It simply re-shapes you on your knowledge and objectives of your business.
