I Just Want A Rock And Roll All Night And Set Up A New Business Opportunity Everyday

Things are not always as they appear

Things are not always as they appear

“Be a voracious reader. When I first came to America, I was blown away and blessed the day the founding fathers gave us free libraries. It was the first time since the Gutenberg Bible that all information became available to all levels of society. Everyone has the same access to information, which is access to power.”

Which successful entrepreneur said that quote to Business Week?

Anyone…?

I will give you a clue: he is always looking for a new business opportunity, has a television show, and was once the manager of Liza Minelli. Ok, that might have thrown you off even more.

The answer is Gene Simmons.

Not exactly someone you would think as a literary giant or a bookworm, but nevertheless he is worth millions with his hands in numerous business pots because of education.

When looking for new business opportunities you have to fill the well or you will never maximize your potential. I remember a congressman telling me that becoming a talented person comes from what you do when you are home alone with your free time. Are you educating yourself or de-educating yourself? It is your choice.

Businesses are built up on the foundation of knowledge. Look at your failures and why they have happened. What can you narrow it down to? If you could choose one word to described what stopped you from achieving your precious dreams what would it be?

My feelings are that this word is knowledge.

I have a friend who is a talented network marketer and has made several millions and I look for chances to be around him to see if any of his intelligence rubs off on me. I once asked him how he overcomes objections for people that have failed before at an MLM.

He responded, “The only way to overcome that is to help them see that they needed knowledge in order to be successful. Either they weren’t provided with that or they didn’t take advantage of that. Whatever happened you have to help them see for themselves that this time will be different.”

His point was so valid. I had lost thousands in an MLM and I had no clue how I got to the point of poverty. I spent countless days trying to figure out what went wrong or how could I change my approach to prospective distributors. I felt paralyzed. Why? I didn’t have the knowledge.

He demonstrated how to approach people, how to solve concerns, and how to inspire people to the point that they were pleading to join. It was all so simple. I assumed he was born with this gift.

He responded, “No it took many years and plenty of studying in order for me to figure this out on my own just like every other talented entrepreneur. Most of it due to hours in the library, asking questions to successful network marketers and reading purchased books.”

We don’t realize how much knowledge and power exists between book covers and how it can literally free us from the chains of ignorance.

Take a guess on the voice behind this quote:

“There is no such thing as enough. Only small minds put barricades in front of themselves. If you perceive death, it is only a matter of time until you are dead. The guys with the most amount of money don’t get caught up in the trappings—it’s the lottery winners that buy all the stuff. Money, ironically enough, is beside the point. It’s the hunt, not the kill.”

I tricked you. Again…Gene Simmons. A lot different than face paint and long tongues, huh?

How often do you read and thirst after knowledge? And then do you take this knowledge and apply it to your business? Have you noticed there are so many small businesses within one business for each of us to tackle?

With each of these businesses they have their own owner. Sometimes we call them managers, employees, or contractors. It might be the marketing business, the human resources business, the legal business, or the customer service business to name a few.

Even when these small subset businesses are delegated to others, as the business owner you have to make sure they are at least ran properly. Really you have the capacity to start a new business opportunity every day or to at least expand on it. You get to decide how that is done.

Improvement comes with new ideas. How are new ideas nurtured?

  • Mentors or Advisers
  • Competition
  • Employees
  • Literature

Those are probably the most common aspects, but they can be broken down into so much more with each being well used even simultaneously. Your goal and challenge is to see how you can at least use one of these daily and mark it down in whatever tracking system you use. It doesn’t matter if we are discussing franchises, small businesses, network marketing, or internet home business opportunities. Spend at least half of your day learning and the other half implementing.

You owe it to your business to be a never ending source of knowledge. If not, then just like a child, how is she to grow? I never thought I would say this, but take some advice from Gene Simmons and get on the knowledge bandwagon.

This is as much your blog as it is mine and now the blog is yours.

Let me ask you what is your single most important question about a new business opportunity?
